The results of this year's employee survey read like a success story: After the first survey in 2023 pointed out many challenges, 2025 shows a very clear improvement. A sharp increase in employee motivation within just two years speaks for the consistent implementation of measures following the last survey. Personal responsibility and opportunities to help shape the company, teamwork, fairness and trust in the university's management and leadership were particularly positively highlighted.

With these commendable results, PHSH has earned the Excellence@Work Award from ValueQuest.

Our employer award is only given to organizations that achieve a response rate of at least 80 percent and a motivation score of over 80 points. This year, a total of 92% of all lecturers and employees took part in the anonymous online survey. The latter also signals a high level of confidence among participants in the process and in employee surveys as an effective feedback tool.

A culture of trust as a success factor for greater employee satisfaction

A key result of the survey: PHSH employees have significantly more trust in their management than they did two years ago. This change did not happen by itself, but was driven by targeted confidence-building measures. PHSH has thus laid a strong foundation for constructive collaboration. Only when there is trust do employees feel psychologically safe and can openly discuss their concerns and suggestions with managers.

The university management wins employees for common goals

In the results of our employee surveys, we repeatedly see that a clear, overarching strategy and management level is criticized and that this has a major impact on employee satisfaction.

The university's management has achieved a great deal in this area over the last two years and has sharpened its profile. Under the leadership of Rector Thomas Hermann, central management and leadership tasks have been realigned, which has had a noticeably positive effect on employee motivation.

Fairness increases employee loyalty

Another success factor is the increased sense of fairness within the university. Those who feel they are treated fairly are more motivated, identify more strongly with the organization and stay with the company longer.

Improvements for students too

Students were surveyed again in parallel to the employee survey, with equally pleasing results. In particular, motivation, trust in the university and willingness to recommend it to others have increased compared to 2023. The results show: A good workplace culture not only has a direct impact on employees and lecturers, but also attracts students.
