The market environment has changed significantly in recent years, and with it the demands placed on organizations. Transformation is increasingly becoming a decisive factor for companies - especially digital transformation.

Digital solutions increase efficiency and enable innovation and creativity. In recent years, companies in almost all sectors have begun to tap into new digital technologies and exploit their benefits. This is often accompanied by a transformation of important business processes, which has an impact on products, processes, organizational structures and management concepts. This requires companies to establish management practices that control these complex processes.

Measuring the transformation index for digital transformation

The continuous monitoring of (digital) transformation is a key factor. ValueQuest supports organizations in the continuous and systematic measurement of the transformation index, which provides information about an organization's readiness and ability for digital transformation.

The transformation radar

Based on Dr. John Kotter's 8-stage model for successful change, ValueQuest has developed a model that monitors transformation processes.

The transformation radar can be used:

  • As part of an employee survey (Engagement Survey)
  • As part of transformation projects
  • As part of regular, repeated pulse surveys

The transformation radar measures the readiness for transformation on 8 levels:

  1. Create a sense of urgency: Help others recognize why change is urgently needed by making a "bold, aspirational opportunity statement".
  2. Build a leading coalition: Involve key players, including stakeholders and leaders.
  3. Formulate a strategic vision and initiatives: Define the changes you intend to make.
  4. Show clear leadership: act as a role model.
  5. Align the organization: Get the others on board and drive them to implement the necessary changes.
  6. Enable action by removing barriers: Identify and remove barriers that would impede freedom and effective change.
  7. Achieve short-term successes: Track progress and encourage participants by celebrating even small successes.
  8. Anchor the change: Identify the new behaviors that have had a positive impact. Continue to express them so that they build strength and old habits no longer resurface.

Each of the eight steps is operationalized through concrete and clear questions. There are two types of questions:

  1. Questions from the first-person perspective à Show personal readiness
  2. Projective questions ("in our team, ...) à Show the readiness of the organization

The comparison of the two perspectives provides an indication of the degree of maturity of the (digital) transformation within the organization.

Successful digital transformation through constant feedback

Constant feedback is an important factor for successful (digital) transformation. It shows what the company should focus on more. At the same time, it enables comparison with other organizations (benchmarking).
