As we wrote in the last blog post, there are seven clear advantages to properly conducted leadership feedback.

The advantages of 360-degree feedback

  1. Increasing self-awareness
  2. Focus on the "soft" factors
  3. Anchoring a common understanding of leadership
  4. Promoting dialog and good working relationships
  5. Accountability thanks to facts
  6. Encouraging personal development
  7. Results

You can read about the first three points in more detail in our last blog post. In this article, we will go into the remaining four aspects in more detail:

Promoting dialog and good working relationships

Management feedback is a building block of an open and dialog-oriented corporate culture. Being able to evaluate superiors and assess leadership behavior, as well as peer and top-down feedback, are crucial to learning more about different perspectives.

A detailed results report is the basis for an objective dialog, which ideally begins with an honest discussion between the manager and the person giving feedback - the first step on the path from measurement to improvement. The guaranteed anonymity of the 360° feedback process allows open and constructive feedback to take place.

Accountability thanks to facts

The worst enemy of accountability is ambiguity. The more unclear something is, the more difficult it is to hold people accountable. Similarly, employees can talk past each other. This is where the 360-degree feedback assessment comes in. It converts competencies into clear behaviors and gives them a numerical value.

Encouragement for personal development

Continuous personal development turns effective employees into good managers with effective leadership behavior. Employers who offer personal development opportunities retain talent more than those who leave their employees to their own devices.

A 360 leadership assessment provides the necessary data basis for taking a targeted approach to your own development, recognizing your own strengths and dealing with your weaknesses and blind spots.

A possible discussion with a coach can set the course for positive personal and career development.

Results

Leadership feedback is not a self-runner, but an effective tool for a learning and sustainable organization. It helps to improve relationships within the organization. Accountability is increased and clarity is created as to how one's own performance can be improved.

Research shows time and again that improved leadership behavior leads to higher employee motivation and better results. And that is ultimately what it is all about: spurring your own organization on to top performance and anchoring a performance-oriented, transparent and supportive management culture.

Management feedback as an opportunity

In summary, it can be said that well-done, professional 360° feedback offers a great opportunity to advance and professionalize your own organization. It has a positive influence on the corporate and management culture and provides managers with clear perspectives and appreciation.
